djr for djr

May 7, 2007

maybe its just that aku ni n00b sesangat, but this isnt the first time im grumbling about the complexity of blogsome. if it had been more user friendly, id have been more active in it. any seconders?

methinks in the light of our graduation, and peiling’s treachery in fleeing to another course =P, a simpler interface, which can be easier to maintain as well as can encourage a more active participation than what we have seen here, is long overdue. it can be a platform for us to

just bomb the tagboard to release stress,

or get in touch again,

or organize reunions/junior-senior get-to-know sessions,

or sell/buy books,

or recommend books/mags/movies/musics,

or even promote your/a blog/profile/site/business/service XD;

essentially for jr, not just about jr.

while i cannot guarantee it, i do have interest in keeping a much more interactive blog for jr peeps, inclusive of the adv dip class, those from our dip class heading to utar or any other destiny that fate or their parents have pointed them to, as well as our juniors.

if moving to a new blog is given the green light, there are a few things that you might want to give your two sen’s worth:

1. choice of domain

2. name of domain

3. admin/moderating system

4. to quote anna and the king, etc etc etc XD

since i cant figure out head or tail of how to post a poll, we’ll just do it the good old-fashioned comment way. transparency, check-and-balance as well as basic math guaranteed =P everyone’s views and opinions and suggestions and BS are welcome, even orang yang takder kaitan=P if you havent commented, do. if you know someone hasnt commented, ask them to.

ofcourse, despite what opinions you may hold of democracy, majority still wins. but those who dont get what they want, dont go sulk in your little dusty corner. if anything, come on to the new blog and fight your case. put what we’ve been taught to do in the past two years, or what you have paid to learn, to good use. least ada activity XD

this is prolly my biggest effort to get everyone involved in a little class activity. so who’s in for it?

missing college

miss you guys already. i spent yesterday cleaning and packing things in my room to go back to kajang today. there were so many things that reminded me of all of you. i know many people thing that tarc is not a very favourable place to study, but i have had the greatest time here with you guys… and i guess it is the company that matters. i don’t always get to say this, but thanks for being who you are! i’ve had fun spending time with you guys and being in the same class… wouldn’t trade you guys for any other =)

i cannot forget farah’s constant scoldings in class, the way she’d stare at you for asking notes from yesterday’s lecture. i cannot forget michelle’s contagious laughter which is almost always loud and hilarious. lydia’s giggles. mashimaro’s (wenhui) small eyes. teh tarik’s laidbackness at everything and his "whyyyy". and his constant remark of how farah hamsap him. peiwey’s blur face. fanny’s sleepy look every morning. geeta being noisy next to me. ju ee’s korean words she’d scribble all over the pages of her notes. waiyee’s every-morning rambles of some new craft thing or baju she saw. isaac’s comments on absolutely everything. the guys’ sleeping at the back of the class. joan’s chirpiness. yeechiek’s quietness. yokeyan’s "speak english with me". ean san’s smile. meifung’s helpfulness. thila, farah and lydia’s "you’re under-aged, don’t listen". and so much more. will post more at my blog.

just some post-college musings. keep us posted, wherever u are!

most unforgettable moment

what’s the most unforgettable moment or moments in djr 2 that you could recall? it could be a simple joke cracked during classes, or something we did together, or just a line or two that you guys share during class?

for me i just cannot forget this during photojournalism a month back:

mr yusof was showing pics of shark, and farah went, "sir wheres the gigiiii?"

amanda: sharks takda gigi lah sayang

farah: who sayyyyyyy? you never watch nemo ahhh?!

come on, spill!

musings

it’s been.. some time. it’s the last few days of the year and im just trying to quiet myself down and think through what has happened in the past year and how God has graciously blessed me with so many things.

it really feels like just yesterday that we entered college. i remember the mass call, i remember first making friends with geeta, all the introduce-yourself-in-class during our first classes of all subjects in the first sem.

then we got busier in the second semester, with drama (and mass media writing for the rest), mass media law, journalism I (all d running around tbr!), e-publishing and more.

in a blink of an eye, our fifth semester is coming to an end and our finals is less than a month away. i’ve been so blessed to find you guys in djr 2 and i know many people quit their courses and college because they dont feel they belong and they feel lonely. i know many ppl out there look down at tarc cos its cheap, but i really enjoyed myself in djr because of all of you. it’s the company that matters.

i’m going to really miss all of you, all the smiles and laughter we shared, all the instant jokes cracked during or after classes, and just about everything.

let’s cherish this remaining 6 months (or rather 3 months after deducting the hols) we have with each other and keep in touch even after we graduate..

after our diploma

hey guys, how’s the holidays coming? everyone must be enjoying themselves. as for me, i’ve been feeling very relaxed at home and taking things slowly (more like being lazy, haha). wakes up at 10.30 and sleeps at 10.30 too. =P

have been thinking a lot about where i’d head after our diploma. i dont feel like going to utar kampar because it is in kampar.. i still want to go home during weekends. i will miss my family and my church very much. cant live without them, sigh! plus mum hasnt been very positive about me going to kampar. but few days back, she was positive. she gave me the green light all of a sudden. which is very surprising. i am in fact now more open about the idea of going to kampar but it would be a huge and hard decision to make. either that or hope UM/UKM (english lit) would suddenly accept me (having to queue behind form 6 students who are also queueing behind matriculations students =P) or hope that rm70k would drop from the sky so i could do my degree in journalism at Monash University. i cant afford to go to UK for 3 months if i do advanced diploma, sigh. last alternative - work. haha. so its either kampar or work.

what about you guys? if i’m going to kampar, who’s with me apart from geetz and mich? =)

**dissapointing**

honestly people..each and everytime we have class..none of you people seems to concerntrate  in class….especially during ms.neo’s class..emoticon  some people bz sms’ing..reading newspaper, eating, sleeping, laughing, talking, doing everything else EXCEPT pay attention… no doubt that we are the smartest bunch in college,( perasan’ing) but that doesnt give us excuse to take things for granted…….So buck up people…push urself to work harder..its weird how we are all able to express ourselves online. writting 2 3 pages in our blogs but when it comes to participating in class… we act as if we have no mouth!!  and u called urself JOURNALISM student…(quote from AMANDA)

its just a sisterly advice…i love each and everyone of you and i know you people have so much potential.. we can be the best group in college, yet at this point, i dont think so we will be able to get that title.. there’s no harm with talking and being crazy.. it is who we are..but give priority to important things..

Self-defense tools

Recently, there has been an upsurge of crime rates in KL city. Therefore I encourage all DJR students should purchase on self-defense tools such as personal alarm or pepper spray. You can get this from Jaya Jusco.

Just invest a mere RM30 and you can protect your own personal safety and even your life. So why not?

coping with our subjects..

i wonder how’s everyone coping with the new subjects. i guess it seemed pretty obvious to us that this sem we really gotta work hard. at the beginning of this fourth semester i was pretty worried i could not cope with the subjects - tamadun, national goals & programmes and constitutional frameworks & politics but it seemed that everything are good now.

the three subjects above are getting more interesting now.. makes me think. =)

journalism has been fun.. i love journalism.. the going around and the hectic-ness of it.

english… urm. *coughs*

how’s everyone coping? =)

Weekly Badminton.

Alright, i guess i should’ve proposed this earlier, being sports manager and all…

Anyways, anyone interested in a weekly badminton game? Every Friday, after JR classes. The cost is about RM2-4 per person, though it’s rather dependant on the amount of people going. The cost should cover the courts and shuttles (preferably, we can pitch in a little more cash for better shuttles). The time can be discussed upon. Racquets are not provided, though, so ask a friend or housemate.

If you’re interested, just pitch in a comment. if not, just pitch in as well.

Good News: An Invitation to the Opening Ceremony of Book Fair

All DJR 2 students are being invited to attend an opening ceremony of a Book Fair in KLCC on 14/July/2006 (Friday) from 8.45am to 12 noon.

The college will provide a bus for us to go there, and attendance is compulsory.

At least 3 cabinet ministers, one of them likely to be Hishamuddin, the current Education Minister will attend the function, and an SAD officer will be leading us.

Miss Chan will notify Puan Ana about the ceremony so you guys do not have to worry about the class.

Please stay tune for further notice. Thank you.
